Too Many Figs! Help!

As predicted, I have too many figs. Don't believe me? Think it's not possible?

Anybody want some? (I've got a smaller tree with purple ones, too.) If you're in San Diego, let me know!

Hi Ben & Kat - It's too bad they wouldn't survive shipping, I'd definitely send you some!

Oh I wish you could send me some! I don't see fresh figs here at all.

Hey WC & JS - You could always plan a road trip down here for next summer! (Assuming I don't foreclose...)

I wish I did live in San Diego... What a bounty! Make some jam. If you can it for the Winter you'll be able to give a little sunshine away as gifts (of course you are in SD which is pretty much sunny all year... silly me!)

Hi Alexa -
I'd love to can some, but I'm afraid of canning and the possible deadly bacteria. For now, I'm just giving them away, bringing them to work, leaving anonymous bags on peoples' porches...

So sad: 1) have never been to SD 2) love figs.
You can make an arugula/fig/parmesan salad with toasted pine nuts! or fig jam, or just eat them as they are of with brie.

Hi Olga -
So far I've eaten them fresh, made jam and a vinegar-based chutney, also stuffed them with brie, wrapped in bacon, & grilled. Also in salads (I like your pine nut idea). And an upside-down cake that didn't quite turn out. This may seem horrifying to some, but I'm sick of 'em!

Here's a great use for them!

Hi Kitt -
You're right! I'll have to try it.

Hi WANF -
I know, isn't it? And the poor birds that get to eat the ones I can't reach - how heart-breaking!
