My fig trees are acting up again. By acting up, I mean they're on their way to producing more fruit than I can possibly use.
So if anybody in the San Diego area (I'm in North County) wants to pick up some free figs (mostly big green ones, a few small dark purple ones) in the next couple months, drop me a comment or a direct email, and we can set up a fig transfer.

Hi Vicki,
I'm in San Diego! Funny thing... I've never ever cooked with figs. I've always wanted to but I just never seem to have them, and they never seem to make their way into my shopping basket! Do you do wonderful things with them? I'd love to try some out...
Hi RecipeGirl - Most of them we eat right off the tree, but I make a great jam with sesame seeds that's awesome on crackers with goat cheese! You can also dry them in a low oven and use in all sorts of baked goods. Email me at madball911 AT gmail DOT com if you want some free figs, they should be ready in a month or 2.
If only I did!
Ripe, gorgeous figs.
Such bounty...
Fresh figs are so much better than store bought! Wish I were on that end of the states! :)
Having a fig tree would be so nice! :)
Hi Lucy & Jackie, thanks for stopping by!
Hi Kevin - I love my fig trees. I don't love the spiders, the beetles, the sticky bird-eaten lumps on the ground. But yeah, it's worth it.
Lucky you! I get jealous of all you Californians with figs and citrus in your yards. I'm told tulips and peonies are rare there, but you can't eat those!
Hi Kitt -
I would (almost) gladly trade my fig trees for tulips! I grew up in Chicago, and tulips are my favorite flower.
My lemon tree, however, I wouldn't give up for anything.
I had a fig tree before I knew how to appreciate it. I wish I was nearby to appreciate yours!
Hi Gretchen Noelle -
Like I told Kevin, I appreciate the trees, just not the bugs and stickiness that comes with them! Thanks for visiting!
